Read  Chapter 9 in Online Journalism by Foust. The chapter continues our discussion on what type of stories make for good video or audio slide show stories on the Internet and the role of interactivity.

Visit the website for the Foust textbook and review the material for Chapter 9. You’ll find it under the heading book chapters.

Choose two of the multimedia examples he offers under the heading Multimedia write a critique of each site. Discuss the use of graphics, audio, video, photos, interactivity and the writing. Include the link to the sites you’ve chosen to review.

Read the article by Angela Grant of News Videographer.  It describes what stories make for good video on the web.  The categories listed on the News Videographer Blog for good multimedia stories are “emotion, movement or action and stories which people want to see.” Pick one of these categories and find a story which fits the category. Defend why this story is a good example of the use of multimedia on the web. Include the link to the story.

We will discuss visual storytelling and how to capture audio, video and make it compelling.
